Job Summary
Reporting to the Program Director for Adult Education the Adult Ed - Technical Transition Coach/Instructor will teach technical trades programs with Core Curricula which including safety basic craft skills power tool shop tool and hand tool usage. Communication and construction drawings are also components of the Core Curricula this position will be responsible for addition electrical welding or other trades related training programs are preferred. The Coach also works with students to ensure they are progressing through the program completing benchmarks and transitioning to postsecondary/training or job opportunities.
Job Duties
Deliver NCCER Core field-specific lab training content to a diverse audience
Deliver other technical trades programs as driven by customer needs
Drive improvement in process effectiveness and efficiency
Discuss students academic and career goals with them and provide them with career advisement both in person and using various media tools (e.g. telephone video conference social media texting etc.)
Work with students and their instructors to develop a learning plan that identifies the students current skill levels the skill levels they need to meet their academic and career goals and the instruction and training required to fill the skills gaps
Assist adult education instructors to incorporate workforce preparation activities into instruction and to provide instruction contextualized with career readiness and specific career pathways where possible
Coordinate processes for student co-enrollment referrals and transitions between the adult education program and workforce partners and supportive service providers including government and community-based organizations
Coordinate opportunities for students to dual-enroll in postsecondary education or training programs and ensure students take advantage of these opportunities
Work with local employers to develop opportunities for adult education services to be provided at the workplace
Promote adult education programs in the community and help businesses workforce agencies and other education organizations understand the benefits of adult education as a critical part of the training and employment pipeline
Assist the Program director with administrative duties as assigned.
Complete other assignments as directed by supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
Specific NCCER Core Curricula experience for instruction material being delivered
Experience as a teacher in a vocational/technical construction or maintenance-related training program
Preferred Qualifications
Valid NCCER certifications or other trades related certifications
Bachelors degree from an accredited institution
3 years combined Industry or higher education experience
One (1) year of leadership experience in business or industry
Experience teaching Adult Education courses
Active Teachers License
Previous teaching experience in skilled trades
Teaching Experience with welding electrical construction or other trades related programs.
Conversational ability or fluency in a second language
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Technology Skills: MS Office skills Word Excel Outlook; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
Capable of learning new technology and applying the new technology in the lab environment
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
This position requires an individual to be self-directed with the ability to make sound decisions on their own.
Travel to satellite class locations as necessary
Ability to work nights and weekends as required
