Job Description

COO Risk ESG Tribe Lead

We are looking for an experienced visionary hands-on people-oriented Tribe lead who takes care of predominantly the end-to-end ESG delivery activities with a focus on (regulatory) reporting and building end-to-end data flows throughout the entire organization. You will steer a large cross-border team and collaborate with various key stakeholders predominantly regulators COOs CFOs CROs countries and wholesale banking. You will directly report into the COO of Risk.

In short this is an extraordinary opportunity where you will be able to have significant impact on the foundation enabling proper ESG management.

Among others you will orchestrate end-to-end (regulatory) transformation and data collection efforts for ESG by functionally steering on the 8 identified ESG capabilities across all domains in the Bank i.e.

Technical Solution Readiness Data Readiness Operational Readiness Data Quality Modelling Reporting Policies & instructions Client Outreach

You will be located in Amsterdam with direct steer on teams in Amsterdam Warsaw and Manilla.

COO Risk in ING:

COO Risk sits right at the heart of the Banks regulatory transformation portfolio and corresponding operational activities. We translate our rather complex banking business exposures into impact on risk-weighted assets and provisions in line with the constantly changing business desires and the latest regulatory requirements. We also provide important insights into NFR and Compliance topics and cater for corresponding regulatory reporting needs. COO Risk delivers baseline and change activities for the Risk organization with the purpose of driving our partners to maximize value in a safe & compliant environment. We play a critical role in ING and service all business lines CROs and COOs of the Bank. COO Risk is committed to take explicit ownership of the end-to-end execution of regulatory transformation initiatives provide simulation capabilities allowing for pro-active risk management enable business growth and offer reliable secure and optimized daily processes.

Job Overview

ING has put sustainability at the heart of what we do and play a key role in the transition to a sustainable economy through products like green bonds and sustainability-linked loans. As climate-related risks increasingly affect our assets managing both financing and climate risk requires structured harmonized and centrally available data. Next to that regulators now expect ING to disclose both sustainable financing metrics (e.g. Green Asset Ratio) and ESG risks. Currently our ESG efforts are dispersed throughout all locations in all business lines and in all support functions. There is a strong need for central alignment on transformation and operations for ESG which will be the key objective of the ESG Tribe.

While ESG presents new challenges similar demands exist in MIS Valuation and Credit Risk Loan Tapes (CRLT). Due to overlapping data needs resources and technologies these three domainsESG MIS Valuation and CRLThave already intensified collaboration and will be governed together in the new ESG Tribe. You will be responsible for driving the key ESG MIS Valuation and CRLT priorities and strategic initiatives across different business lines and ensure we comply with the latest regulations and prevent minimize and mitigate risk while maintaining a sustainable cost base of the business operations.

As ESG Tribe Lead you will craft and execute a vision for ESG and associated data needs driving regulatory transformation and supporting centralization standardization and digitization across INGs banking teams. The role focuses on streamlining end-to-end risk data processesespecially for sustainable finance and ESG riskby harmonizing and centralizing complex dispersed data through automation and international collaboration. Success relies on connecting across reporting lines and locations to deliver a robust effective ESG function.

Key Responsibilities

  • You will strengthen and grow the ESG capabilities in the Bank and ensure delivery continuous improvement data collection and reporting for ING countries world-wide.
  • Motivate inspire attract and maintain talented staff. You enable employees to excel in their jobs both now and in the future. Next to this you create a climate of learning and growing and evaluate results and existing knowledge with a focus on end-to-end collaboration.
  • Keep up with regulatory and industry developments and trends in the area of climate risk management resolution planning and credit risk. You are able to translate these external developments into business deliverables and results.
  • Streamline end-to-end risk data processes through automation optimization compliancy and increasing efficiency of data delivery processes throughout the full value chain for accurate and traceable reporting.
  • Collaborate and engage with key regulatory stakeholders on our strategy deliverables and processes for ESG MIS Valuation and CRLT.
  • Foster alignment and collaboration between Risk IT data management teams data domains and business units to ensure effective communication and understanding of data requirements also for MIS Valuation and CRLT.
  • Implement and execute a sound governance and data quality standards across all platforms and data owners.
  • Responsible for transformation in terms of organization and culture and initiate improvements focusing on the efficiency and quality of services.
  • Lead and mentor a team of ESG and business professionals providing guidance on best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Capabilities/Experience

  • Masters degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience in complex transformation work and proven leadership capabilities.
  • The ability to navigate through and quickly digest complexity.
  • Senior manager with a proven track record in creating and executing business strategy and transformation.
  • Experience with ESG management and regulatory exposure in the areas of Risk Data & Modelling.
  • Can influence senior global and local leaders to be able to drive programs that reinforce the COO Risk and ESG agenda in COO & CRO.
  • Excellent interpersonal problem-solving and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to display flexibility to teams and adapt plan approach and behavior to the different needs cultures and situations.
  • Strong experience in developing high performing teams and people development (i.e. coaching and career conversations).
  • Job Grade 15 JCF 21
  • 40 hours per week
