About the Role

As a Trading Standards Officer you will play a crucial role in safeguarding public interests by enforcing trading standards legislation. Based within the Quality Standards and Animal Health team you will have a focus on food standards weights and measures product safety animal health and feeding will be responsible for investigating complaints conducting inspections and taking action against any breaches of regulations. Your work will help to maintain a safe and fair marketplace for all. This is a progressive role so you may not yet have all the qualities we need for the Trading Standards Officer role but would be willing to work toward them as you progress to be a Trading Standards Officer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate complaints related to consumer protection and fair trading.
  • Conduct inspections of businesses to ensure compliance with trading standards laws.
  • Provide advice and support to businesses on regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other agencies and stakeholders to help to address issues.
  • Keep up to date with changes in legislation and best practices.
