Job Description

PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for the authoring of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) and Label text supporting the hazard communication requirements of the corporation from the Asia region. The primary focus of this position will be to support MSDSs and Label authoring needs for the Asia Pacific groups and facilities requiring a rapid response time. The Hazard Communication Specialist provides support related to global hazard communication requirements and inquiries to both internal and external customers. Key internal contacts are: R&D IS commercial groups and facilities HSE personnel. Key external contacts are: customers regulatory agencies and industry associations.

RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Author MSDSs and Label content from Asia Pacific region leveraging the corporate hazard communication systems for MSDS and labeling
  • Participate in implementation of the SAP EHS module and GLM (Global Label Management) for MSDS authoring and Label Management
  • Provide support for MSDS and Label template management within the SAP EHS module and GLM.
  • Maintain data on hazard assessment in the MSDS authoring system.
  • Regional translation management in support of MSDSs and Labels
  • Provide internal and external customer support related to hazard communication.
  • Support hazard communication activities associated with raw material approvals
  • Monitor and evaluate upcoming and pending GHS and hazard communication legislations and requirements from region to determine impact to the corporation and ensure compliance by working together with Global Hazard Communication team.
  • Other tasks assigned to support the team and business.

REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION EXPERIENCE SKILLS:

  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry or related field such as Environmental Science Bio-chemistry etc.
  • 3-5 years experience in R&D or product regulatory compliance; Fresh graduate from an accredited university is also in consideration
  • Capable of summarizing documenting and effectively communicating data and information
  • Strong background in organic/polymer chemistry
  • Strong computer literacy including use of relational databases
  • Strong orientation toward daily customer service environment
  • Details oriented and result driven
  • Excellent oral / written communication and interpersonal skills (Fluency in English is a must)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and to work under tight deadlines and changing priorities
  • Must be self motivated and comfortable working in a team environment

CONSIDERED A PLUS:

  • Knowledge of and experience in LZA / LZAM product chemistry
  • Advanced degree in Chemistry
  • Knowledge and experience in global hazard communication requirementstransportation requirements and chemical control laws
  • Experience in corporate ERP business systems such as SAP-EHS
  • Other A/P language skills such as Korean Japan etc
