Job Description
taki to North of Levin Project
The taki to north of Levin (2NL) highway will dramatically improve safety resilience and efficiency as well as increasing transport choices for the areas growing population. The 2NL project is led in Partnership with NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi Muapoko Tribal Authority local hap of Ngti Raukawa ki te Tonga and council partner Horowhenua District Council.
This transformative project is being delivered using a two-alliance approach with each alliance delivering a section of the road and associated works. Together alliance partners are working to create a positive legacy for the region led by our project principles to tread lightly with the whenua and create an enduring legacy. We are seeking excellent people for this unique opportunity to work and collaborate with leading industry organisations.
Downer is proud to be a partner within the South Alliance alongside McConnell Dowell Beca and Tonkin Taylor as Non-Owner Participants (NOPs). Our scope is from taki through to South of the Ohau river.

With preparations for 2NLs first Summer season underway we are now seeking expressions of interest from experienced Labourers.
We are looking for competent operators to support a range of activities including:
- Day to day tasks on a construction site
- Stripping existing farm fencing
- Installing and maintaining silt fences
- Checking on erosion and sediment control devices

To be successful in this role you will bring:
- Full Class 1 drivers licence
- Proven experience using a range of hand and power tools
- A strong commitment to safe work practicesand Zero Harm principles
- Reliability a solid work ethic and a willingness to support your team
- Proven experience with erosion and sediment control
- Physical fitness and a positive attitude toward working outdoors in all conditions
