The Lead Baker is responsible for supervising the bakery team managing daily baking operations and ensuring that all baked goods meet the highest standards of quality and consistency. This role involves overseeing the production process developing new recipes and maintaining a clean and organized bakery environment.
Team Leadership and Supervision:
Lead train and mentor a team of bakers and bakery assistants.
Assign tasks monitor progress and ensure that the team meets production deadlines.
Provide guidance on baking techniques and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
Baking and Production:
Oversee the preparation and baking of bread pastries cakes and other baked goods.
Ensure that all products are made according to established recipes and quality standards.
Manage the baking process from mixing ingredients to final product.
Quality Control and Assurance:
Inspect baked goods for quality consistency and presentation.
Ensure that all products meet the bakerys standards and customer expectations.
Implement and maintain quality control procedures.
Recipe Development and Innovation:
Develop and test new recipes to expand the bakerys product offerings.
Modify existing recipes to improve taste texture and presentation.
Stay updated on baking trends and incorporate new techniques and ingredients.
Inventory and Supplies Management:
Monitor inventory levels and order ingredients and supplies as needed.
Maintain records of ingredient usage and manage inventory to minimize waste.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality ingredients.
Sanitation and Safety Compliance:
Ensure that the bakery adheres to all health and safety regulations.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace and ensure equipment is properly sanitized.
Conduct regular safety and hygiene training for the baking team.
Customer Service and Interaction:
Engage with customers to understand their needs and preferences.
Handle special orders and customer complaints professionally.
Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with clients.
Operational Efficiency:
Plan and organize daily production schedules to meet business needs.
Identify areas for improvement and implement processes to enhance efficiency.
Collaborate with management to develop and achieve bakery goals.
Experience:
Extensive experience as a baker with at least 2-3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Proven expertise in baking a variety of products including bread pastries and cakes.
Skills:
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent baking and decorating skills.
Effective time management and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in using baking tools and equipment.
Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of baking techniques recipes and ingredients.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices.
