PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK
This is a technical position responsible for monitoring the proper function of the citys electric distribution water and wastewater systems. Receives reports of problems with the electric distribution water and wastewater systems from all sources identifies possible causes using the OMS system issues and tracks switching orders line clearances. Work involves map reading interpretation of data maintenance of written and digital records and frequent interaction with public. Employee will be required to work rotating shifts which include nights and weekends.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
High school or equivalent with substantial computer knowledge and experience supplemented by coursework related to electric distribution construction and operations and/or prior professional experience in the field of electric transmission distribution system control and data acquisition or any equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
APPRENTICESHIP
Positions in this class may be assigned to an apprenticeship as defined by Civil Service Rule IV Section 6. This requires the employee to complete initial and ongoing training requirements established by the Lafayette Utilities System within two (2) years for continued employment. Apprenticeship program include step pay increases pending funding.
TYPE OF EXAMINATION - Examination will be a multiple-choice test.
