The Research Support Specialist will provide support with studies of brain activity in rodents and general lab management tasks. This involves carrying out experiments with rodents (surgery and recordings of brain signals on mice and/or rats) and communication with animal CARE for proper compliance with animal protocol addition it involves supporting PIs tasks related to lab organization ordering of supplies and submission of reimbursements as well as communication with department administrative team. This is an on-site full-time (40 hours per week) 12-month appointment with the possibility for extension depending on available funding and successful performance.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree and relevant work experience of more than 2 years or equivalent combination of education and experience.
College coursework or equivalent in biology chemistry or related field. Working knowledge of undergraduate chemistry biology and statistics. Strong reasoning skills and judgment are necessary. Must be personable flexible possess excellent organizational and communication skills and take pride in their work. Ability to work effectively with hazardous chemicals and biohazards; be familiar with and follow safety protocol and procedures at all to occasionally work irregular hours. Demonstrated ability to multitask and balance priorities when necessary. Must be able to carry out experiments to completion with moderate guidance. Strong attention to be able to work independently as well as in a team environment to accomplish required tasks.
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience with lab managing animal care data entry skills good organizational skills and punctuality are desirable.
