Jockey Club Sarah Roe School is part of the English Schools Foundation (ESF) and is the only special school in Hong Kong delivering a curriculum in English. We have an enrollment of 70 students aged between five to nineteen years with additional learning needs including Autism Spectrum diagnosis and complex needs
We are currently seeking to appoint a Part-Time Bus Escort to ensure the safety of students on the school bus to/from school. Working hours are Monday to Friday (on school days) from 07:00 to 09:00 and 14:30 to 16:30 or until the last drop-off is completed.
Overview
The bus escort is to ensure the safety and welfare of JCSRS students as they travel to and from school at the beginning and end of the school day.
The bus escort is expected to liaise closely and efficiently with parents carers bus drivers and the bus coordinator.
Responsibilities
Ensure the safety of students while boarding disembarking and during the bus journey adhering to the schools Bus Risk Assessment and individual student care plans.
Monitor student behaviour and intervene as needed to maintain a safe and calm environment.
Assist students with physical or mobility challenges during transitions on and off the bus.
Report any safety concerns or incidents to the Bus Coordinator promptly and liaise with the class and therapy team as and when needed.
Maintain regular communication with parents/carers regarding pick-up/drop-off times delays or schedule changes via the schools approved platform.
Liaise with the Bus Coordinator drivers and school staff to address student needs or behavioural issues.
Provide updates to class teams about student behaviour or incidents during transit.
Complete daily records including attendance incident reports (e.g. via RecordMy) and timesheets as per school policy.
Ensure and maintain a clean and safe environment. Ensure the bus is clean and tidy after each journey.
Follow emergency protocols including contacting emergency services if required.
Administer basic first aid if trained and necessary; escalate medical issues to the Bus Coordinator.
Adhere to all school policies and guidance including confidentiality and safeguarding.
Attend mandatory training sessions (e.g. first aid).
Requirements
Previous experience working in an educational setting will be an advantage.
Language: Fluent in English and preferably has a basic understanding of Cantonese.
Patience empathy and experience working with children with disabilities and neurodiverse needs.
Ability to manage behaviours calmly and effectively.
Strong communication skills in English for liaising with diverse stakeholders.
Physical ability to assist students with mobility needs.
Willingness to undergo background checks and relevant training.
Applicants must be permanent Hong Kong residents or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.
