Job Summary
The El Sistema inspired After School Program is a partnership between the Somerville Public Schools Music Department and the Somerville Public Schools. The goal of the program is to
provide exceptional instrumental and orchestral education in order to promote character
development positive citizenship and increased academic achievement. Applicants should be committed to the East Somerville neighborhood ensure that the program celebrates the rich local culture is a key player in the continued thriving of the community and believes in the
capacity of an El Sistema program to affect social change.
Assistant Director Responsibilities:
- Monitor collect and process student tuition payments maintaining accurate financial records.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parent communication regarding student pick-up dismissal procedures and general inquiries.
- Manage and track budget requests and purchases in coordination with the Director.
- Assist the Director with administrative organization including scheduling document preparation and follow-up on action items.
- Support general program operations as needed to ensure smooth daily functioning.
Qualifications:
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g. Google Workspace Microsoft Office).
- Experience in an administrative or office support role preferred.
- Commitment to supporting the mission and values of El Sistema.
