    PAY FOR POSITION: PSE SALARY SCHEDULE LEVEL 5 - $ 24.76


    GENERAL SUMMARY
    This positions responsibilities are to provide a variety of clerical support to the business office.Duties include data entry filing records maintenance; backup and peak load assistance for the department.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
    Depending upon the individual assignment the Clerk - Business Office may perform all or a combination of the following:

    1. Provides clerical support to the department; creates and maintains payroll and accounting files; ensures payroll filing is kept current; performs a variety of office support.
    1. Serves as support for department projects including surveys and reports.
    2. Tracks a variety of projects and deadlines; coordinates with designated staff to meet established deadlines.
    3. Assists in records maintenance developing and running a variety of computerized reports filing payroll and accounting records as needed.
    4. Provides backup and peak load assistance to business office department.
    5. Operates a computer and a variety of software packages such as word processing spreadsheet database desktop publishing and mainframe computer applications. Provides a variety of routine and custom reports as requested. Assists with reconciliations. Performs data entry under the direction of the business office management staff.
    6. Models appropriate and cooperative behavior including protecting confidential information consistent with district ethical guidelines.
    7. Completes confidential verification of employment requests. Maintains strict confidentiality of staff payroll and benefit records.
    8. Compiles and maintains new hire packets for payroll and ensures an appropriate level of new hire packets are always available.
    9. Prepares assembles collates and distributes various training materials as needed.
    10. Compiles district annual Impact Aid data.

    OTHER FUNCTIONS
    1. Assists with distribution of business office forms.
    2. May receive open date stamp and route department mail.
    3. May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams.
    4. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
    Reports to the Director of Budget and Finance.

    MENTAL DEMANDS
    Required to adapt to shifting priorities and to frequently re-channel work effort and experiences frequent interruptions; may occasionally deal with distraught or difficult individuals; required to perform repetitive data entry tasks; periodically required to meet processing deadlines.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS
    Required to sit or stand for prolonged periods; periodically exposed to visual display terminal for prolonged periods. Required to lift and position files binders and supplies up to forty (40) pounds. Required to bend kneel and climb low stepladder.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education and Experience
    Education training skills and experience necessary to carry out the assignment. Experience involving maintenance of computerized records system and general office procedures. Payroll and accounting experience preferred.

    Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    Skill in effective oral and written communication. Ability to learn district payroll and accounting practices and procedures. Data entry Excel spreadsheets and ten-key skills. Ability to plan organize prioritize and complete tasks. Ability to operate a computer and ability to learn a variety of software packages. Ability to produce accurate records and reports. Ability to produce accurate payroll and accounting data records and reports. Effective customer service skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of others.

    Licenses/Special Requirements
    Requires fingerprinting and background check to determine that there have been no convictions involving physical molestation abuse injury or neglect of a minor. Must complete training in and adhere to district infection control plan.
