Position Summary:
The Art Gallery Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the Wege Gallery Director in all aspects of planning promoting and installing art exhibitions. This hands-on opportunity offers students the chance to work closely with exhibiting artists gain valuable skills in exhibition production and engage directly with the MIU community and general public.

Job Responsibilities:
- Work with the Gallery Director in installing and mounting art exhibitions.
- Assist in promoting exhibitions to the MIU community through various channels.
- Assist with the coordination of public gallery programs and events.
- Lead student programs within the gallery space fostering engagement and participation.
- Maintain and create gallery reports and documents as needed.
- Conduct tours of exhibitions for community groups and engage with visitors about the artwork.
- Working occasional evening weekend events per exhibition.
Job Qualifications:
- Proficiency and professionalism in email communication and word processing programs.
- Interest in or experience with art making and exhibiting art.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to use basic power tools safely and effectively and/or demonstrate a willingness to learn.
- High dependability on-time reliable motivated complete tasks and can problem solve.

Susan Metrican is an artist living and working in Fairfield IA via Boston NYC Toronto and Bangkok. Metrican received an MFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design her BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in 2014 and Shandaken: Storm King in 2022. Metricans work has been included in solo and group exhibitions nationally. Metrican has an artist edition with Drawer NYC (NY) and has been featured in ART MAZE Mag and Cream City Review. She is one of four founding members of kijidome an experimental project space and collaborative in Boston MA (2013-2017). From 2014-2022 she was the Curator at the Kniznick Gallery at Brandeis University.
About the Wege Center:Wege Center for the Arts
The Wege Gallery (est. 2021) is the primary exhibition space at Maharishi University operated by the MIU Art Department. The gallery hosts 4-5 showsper year featuring artists from across the country including student and faculty exhibitions. The Wege Gallery is located at the Wege Center for the Arts and was made possible by the generosity of the Wege family.
