About Umwelt

Umwelt is an Australian owned and run environmental consultancy that has been operating for over 35 years across Australia. We are a team of vibrant professionals with experience across a range of sectors including renewables infrastructure defence regulation and policy resources and the urban development sector. Our Umwelt Brisbane team are currently seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Groundwater Modeller.

About the Role:

We are looking for a Groundwater Modeller who has a passion for their work and has experience in developing and running MODFLOW groundwater models. The role is to work closely with our team in Brisbane with opportunities to expand and explore your skills in modelling and consulting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceptual and numerical model development calibration and predictive modelling with support from senior modellers. Including collation and processing of data to develop model inputs processing of model results and visualisation/reporting on model outcomes
  • Coding and use of scripts to process model results and visualisation
  • Follow quality management systems and processes to ensure the integrity and quality of work
  • Contribution to the preparation of reports and documentation detailing results of studies
  • An ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients
  • A team player who is organised and enjoys working collaboratively with the team and other technical disciplines

About You:

  • Degree qualifications in Hydrogeology Engineering Geology Environmental Science or a related field
  • Expertise with groundwater modelling software (i.e. AlgoMesh MODFLOW-USG MODFLOW-SURFACT FEFLOW FloPy PEST PEST)
  • Expertise in visualisation of groundwater data and GIS software (i.e. ParaView QGIS Surfer ArcGIS)
  • Preference for capabilities in data analytics and data processing using coding/scripts (i.e. Python R Fortran and C)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment
