We are seeking a detail-oriented analytical and highly organized Remote Payroll Processor to join our growing Human Resources team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate timely and compliant payroll processing for all employees across multiple states and jurisdictions. This position requires a high level of confidentiality professionalism and a thorough understanding of federal state and local payroll regulations. The Payroll Processor will work collaboratively with HR Finance and other departments to support organizational goals and deliver outstanding service to employees.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing:
Prepare and process biweekly semi-monthly or monthly payrolls for employees in compliance with company policy and federal/state regulations.
Review and validate timesheets attendance records and other relevant documentation.
Calculate and reconcile wages overtime commissions bonuses and deductions.
Ensure accuracy in direct deposit transactions garnishments and tax withholdings.
Compliance and Reporting:
Stay current with changes in payroll laws regulations and best practices.
Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax reports (e.g. 941 W-2 W-3 1099).
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of multi-state payroll tax codes and labor laws.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
Maintain accurate payroll records documentation and audit trails in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
Respond to and resolve payroll discrepancies errors or employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Collaboration & Communication:
Provide clear and timely communication with employees managers and third-party vendors.
Coordinate with HR and Finance on payroll changes benefit deductions and leave of absence payroll impacts.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in the development and implementation of payroll policies processes and system enhancements.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years experience in payroll processing preferably in a multi-state remote environment.
Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g. ADP Paychex Gusto or similar platforms) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Word Outlook).
Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Exceptional attention to detail organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Payroll certification (FPC CPP or similar) highly desirable.
Experience with HRIS or ERP systems integration.
Prior experience in a high-volume multi-company or multi-jurisdictional payroll environment.
Compensation and Benefits
Hourly Pay: $30.00 $45.00 per hour (based on qualifications and experience)

This is a fully remote position. The candidate must have access to a reliable high-speed internet connection a secure working environment and be able to maintain regular working hours in alignment with team and organizational needs.
