We are seeking a meticulous detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Clerk to join our team in a fully remote capacity. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional accuracy and integrity in handling sensitive payroll data and will be responsible for executing a broad range of payroll functions to ensure timely and accurate compensation for our employees.
As a Payroll Clerk you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Payroll Department with the preparation processing and maintenance of payroll records. This position requires strong analytical skills the ability to maintain confidentiality and a thorough understanding of payroll principles standards and relevant legal regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately process bi-weekly semi-monthly and monthly payrolls for a diverse workforce ensuring compliance with federal state and local regulations.
Review and verify timesheets attendance records wage computations and other payroll-related information for completeness and accuracy.
Maintain and update payroll records employee files and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
Respond promptly and professionally to employee inquiries regarding pay deductions benefits and payroll policies.
Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting departments to reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare and distribute payroll reports summaries and statements as required for management and auditing purposes.
Assist with the annual preparation and distribution of W-2s 1099s and other year-end tax forms.
Ensure accurate processing of employee status changes such as new hires terminations promotions and transfers.
Manage and process voluntary and involuntary deductions including garnishments benefits and retirement contributions.
Stay current on applicable wage and hour laws tax regulations and best practices in payroll administration.
Maintain strict confidentiality and security of all payroll and personnel data.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance Business Administration or related field preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of payroll processing experience preferably in a remote or multi-state environment.
Proficiency with payroll software (e.g. ADP Paychex QuickBooks or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite particularly Excel.
Strong understanding of federal and state payroll regulations tax laws and reporting requirements.
Excellent organizational skills attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
Self-motivated reliable and able to work independently in a remote team setting.
Compensation:
Hourly Pay: $27.00 $40.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
