About the role
In this role you will:
- Provide practical innovative and commercial written and verbal legal advice as required
- Review contract documents and perform contract risk assessments
- Negotiate contract terms with clients subcontractors and suppliers
- Develop and maintain commercial and respectful relationships with clients regulators joint venture partners and other business partners including suppliers and subcontractors
- Detailed understanding of contractual and legislative interpretation with practical commercial advice on its application to the business
- Prepare and deliver relevant and targeted commercial and compliance training to the business in an approachable and easy to understand manner
- Proactive management of claims disputes and litigation always with consideration of best for business options and minimal external cost
- Liaise with government regulators as required
- Conduct Code of Conduct and Safety investigations as required including the review of safety incident reports for the business and preservation of legal professional privilege where appropriate.
About you
- Law degree and admitted to legal practice. Current practising certificate preferred but not mandatory
- External law firm experience preferred but not mandatory. Experience in resources industry not required
- Good commercial acumen with stakeholders
- Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders and personnel with integrity at all times
Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) in English and Indonesian - Good planning and organisational skills
- Ability to take initiative
- Ability to work under pressure and be flexible
- Appropriate skills in Microsoft systems including Sites PowerPoint and Excel as well as network drive administration
- Travel to project locations will be required
