Job Description

About the Quality Engineer position

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring product and process quality for automotive headliner components in compliance with IATF 16949 standards. This role involves quality planning problem-solving and continuous improvement activities across manufacturing and supplier operations.Serve as the primary customer liaison for all quality-related matters within the assigned production unit.Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities for headliner components.Manage sample submissions for new product introductions and engineering changesDevelop and maintain Control Plans Inspection Instructions Gage Instructions and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (PFMEAs).Track and report key quality metrics including scrap rates rework levels and customer complaints.Lead structured problem-solving efforts for internal and external quality concerns including product defects and process non-conformances.Ensure team members are adequately trained to meet departmental objectives and quality standards.Coordinate supplier quality activities including managing supplier rejections chargebacks and PPAP documentation.Apply statistical tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) to monitor trends and drive continuous improvement.Collaborate with Engineering Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.Participate in design reviews and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product and process quality.Conduct internal audits and support external audits including customer and third-party registrar assessments.Audit manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with IATF 16949 and customer-specific requirements.Comply with all safety regulations and environmental procedures including ISO 14001 standards.Any additional reasonable request deemed necessary by management.Exercise authority to:Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of product process or system nonconformities.Identify and recommend solutions through appropriate channels.Verify the implementation and effectiveness of corrective actions.Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming products until issues are resolved.Approve and sign PPAP Warrants.BASIC EDUCATION TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCEBachelors degree in engineering Quality or related field. (Recommended)Minimum 3 years of experience in Automotive Quality Engineering (Preferred)Strong Knowledge of IATF 16949 APQP PPAP FMEA SPC and MSA. (Required)Certified Internal Auditor for IATF 16949 (preferred)Excellent problem-solving communication and organizational skills. (Required)Bachelors degree in EngineeringQuality or related field. (Recommended)Minimum 3 years of experience in Automotive Quality Engineering (Preferred)Strong Knowledge of IATF 16949 APQP PPAP FMEA SPC and MSA. (Required)Certified Internal Auditor for IATF 16949 (preferred)Excellent problem-solving communication and organizational skills. (Required)
