The Microbiology Lab Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the microbiology laboratory ensuring efficient workflow regulatory compliance and high-quality data output. This role supports a team of microbiologists and lab technicians by managing resources coordinating schedules and driving continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise microbiology lab staff including scheduling training mentoring and performance evaluations.
- Promote a culture of safety accountability and scientific integrity.
- Act as a point of contact for operational issues and escalate as needed.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee sample receipt processing and testing workflows (e.g. bioburden endotoxin sterility environmental monitoring).
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of testing in accordance with SOPs and client requirements.
- Manage inventory of media reagents and consumables; coordinate with procurement and vendors.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to cGMP GLP ISO and other regulatory standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe lab environment; conduct regular safety audits and inspections.
- Support internal and external audits including CAPA implementation and documentation.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance lab efficiency and reduce turnaround time.
- Collaborate with QA and other departments to streamline workflows and resolve bottlenecks.
Documentation & Reporting
- Review and approve lab documentation including test records logbooks and deviation reports.
- Generate operational metrics and performance reports for management.
- Ensure data integrity and compliance with data governance policies.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Microbiology Biology or related scientific field; advanced degree preferred.
- 3 years of experience in a microbiology lab with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of microbiological techniques and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working in a GMP setting
- Excellent organizational communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in LIMS Microsoft Office and lab instrumentation.
- Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
