The Melt Shop Maintenance Supervisor will lead and coordinate all maintenance activities within the melt shop of an iron foundry. This includes overseeing preventive corrective and emergency maintenance of mechanical electrical and hydraulic systems supporting melting operations (such as induction furnaces ladles cranes cooling systems and dust collection equipment). The supervisor ensures optimal equipment reliability and uptime while enforcing safety environmental compliance and continuous improvement standards.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; A bachelors degree in a relevant field (Mechanical or Electrical Engineering) is often preferred but experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in an industrial or foundry environment supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong background in mechanical and electrical systems including hydraulics pneumatics drives water circuitry welding and electrical to diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment failures.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Understanding of lockout/tagout (LOTO) confined space entry arc flash and other safety protocols.
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft products including Word Excel Power Point etc.
- AB PLCS MCC motor control and DC Crane experience preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include the following. Other duties will be assigned as deemed necessary by operations & staff management)
- Supervise maintenance technicians utility maintenance mobile Scrap Yard furnace production and contractors in day-to-day maintenance operations of the melt shop.
- Plan schedule and oversee preventative and predictive maintenance tasks for melt shop equipment (e.g. induction furnaces cranes cooling towers hydraulic systems bag houses).
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical equipment failures including hydraulic pneumatic drive water circuitry welding and electrical systems.
- Ensure proper documentation of maintenance work orders repairs inspections equipment histories and DEP records for Bag Houses.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for equipment failures and develop corrective action plans.
- Maintain inventory of critical spare parts and consumables.
- Manage mobile equipment for the facility. Maintaining an accurate inventory of all mobile equipment tracking maintenance schedules records of all maintenance repairsand ensuring equipment is in good working order.
- Enforce plant safety environmental regulations and procedures; ensure all work is performed in compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with production engineering and external vendors for equipment upgrades and capital projects.
- Ensure technicians are adequately trained and equipped to perform their duties safely and efficiently and provide opportunities for professional growth.
- Manage maintenance budgets control costs optimize resource allocation and coordinate all maintenance purchase requisitions.
