Media Relations Manager / Lead Finance Investment

The Company is a well-established Hong Kong-based leader in alternative investments renowned for its expertise in private equity venture capital real estate private debt and hedge fund strategies. With a strong presence in regulated markets the firm delivers tailored investment solutions to a sophisticated client base including family offices financial intermediaries private bankers and institutional investors.

Amid rapid growth and evolving market dynamics the company is seeking a strategic and dynamic Media Relations Manager / Lead to spearhead its media relations and communications initiatives in the Hong Kong market. This newly created role under the Investor Relations team will focus on enhancing brand awareness and corporate positioning through targeted media engagement and strategic communications. Reporting directly to the Head of Investor Relations you will lead media relations efforts initially as a key contributor with the flexibility to tailor the roles seniority based on the candidates experience. This position is critical in building robust media relationships and driving the firms reputation in a fast-paced regulated environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a high-impact media relations strategy prioritizing brand exposure and thought leadership through targeted media engagement with financial outlets (e.g. Bloomberg newspapers financial magazines) in the Hong Kong market.

  • Oversee daily media relations operations including crafting press releases securing executive interviews and managing social media and online channels (e.g. LinkedIn WeChat corporate website) for ad hoc news and announcements.

  • Lead a project to revamp the corporate websites media and communications section ensuring alignment with the firms alternative investment focus and enhancing digital presence.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key financial media journalists and industry influencers expanding the media database across Hong Kong Singapore and mainland China to maximize brand visibility.

  • Conduct market research to identify target audiences (e.g. family offices financial intermediaries) and develop tailored media pitches to promote the firms investment strategies.

  • Plan and execute media strategies including press conferences thought leadership articles and industry event participation to position the firm as a leader in the alternative investments sector.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with private equity real estate structured finance and fundraising teams to ensure consistent messaging and alignment with business objectives.

  • Stay abreast of market trends investor sentiment and regulatory updates in alternative investments to inform proactive and reactive media strategies.

  • Act as the lead point of contact for media relations during audits compliance reviews and regulatory interactions.

  • Participate in ad-hoc assignments to support the companys broader objectives including investor relations and strategic communications initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Communications Journalism Public Relations Finance or a related discipline

  • 7-10 years of relevant media relations or financial PR experience in reputable financial institutions private equity or asset management firms with solid knowledge of alternative investment products (e.g. private equity real estate hedge funds structured finance).

  • Proven expertise in financial media relations with a track record of securing high-impact media coverage executive interviews and thought leadership opportunities in the Hong Kong market.

  • Strong connections with financial media particularly e-media platforms and a robust understanding of family offices financial intermediaries and investor networks.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written content (e.g. press releases thought leadership articles) and manage digital channels including social media and website content.

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese with strong PowerPoint skills for creating compelling media presentations.

  • Exceptional communication presentation and interpersonal skills with a proactive dynamic and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.

  • Strong project management and multitasking abilities with resilience and the capacity to work independently in a high-pressure environment.

  • Proven relationship management skills with experience in media pitching advisory and stakeholder engagement.

  • Flexibility to adjust role seniority based on candidate experience; candidates with less experience may be considered for a Media Relations Manager role while those with extensive experience may qualify for a Lead position.

  • Immediate availability is highly preferred.
