Job Description
This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead a team of data engineers at Manulife a leading international financial services provider committed to making life better and decisions easier. Position Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of data engineers providing technical guidance and fostering professional growth.
- Design build and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data warehousing and analytics.
- Collaborate with project managers stakeholders and IT teams to align data strategies ensuring reliable and efficient data infrastructure.
- Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation optimizing processes for performance and cost-effectiveness.
- Stay updated on emerging data technologies and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data engineering capabilities.
- Ability to work on rotating shifts and adapt to a full onsite work arrangement based on business needs
- As part of a 24/7/365 operation this is an Office based shift role.
- Shift patterns are based on 8-hour shifts: (Morning 6am-3pm Evening 2pm-11pm Night 10pm-7am).
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or a related field
- Proven experience in a lead or mentoring role; strong experience with ETL tools and data pipeline frameworks (e.g. Apache Airflow Apache Spark)
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (Masters degree is a plus)
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python Java or Scala; hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g. AWS Azure Google Cloud) and data warehousing solutions (e.g. Snowflake Redshift BigQuery)
- Solid understanding of SQL and database management systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with data modeling data APIs and data integration
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with industry best practices and emerging data technologies
- Experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives in data engineering
