Job Description
Our client is seeking a Hatchery Manager to manage and lead all hatchery operations ensuring hatchability chick quality production targets and full compliance with industry standards biosecurity protocols and regulatory requirements. This role includes strategic planning operational efficiency budget control and continuous improvement.
Minimum RequirementsQualifications:

National Diploma or Degree in Animal Production Poultry Science or Agricultural Management (advantageous)

Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science
Experience:
-
5 7 years in poultry hatchery operations (setters hatchers egg handling chick processing)
-
Proven experience in team management and production planning
Certifications/Knowledge:
-
HACCP and food safety understanding
-
Biosecurity training (preferred)
-
Valid drivers license
Hatchery Operations:
-
Oversee all hatchery processes from egg reception to chick dispatch
-
Maintain and update SOPs and operational documentation
-
Operate and oversee hatchery equipment temperature/humidity systems
Financial & Asset Management:
-
Full control of hatchery operational budget
-
Manage stock for eggs vaccines consumables and PPE
Hygiene & Biosecurity:
-
Enforce strict biosecurity protocols cleaning schedules and sanitation standards

Conduct chick quality checks and monitor incubation parameters
Production & Maintenance:
-
Manage egg setting transfers hatching and delivery schedules
-
Coordinate preventative maintenance to reduce downtime

Approve reports for senior management
Health & Safety:
-
Lead safety programs conduct audits and ensure PPE usage
-
Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations
People Management:
-
Lead train and manage a team of supervisors and hatchery staff (approx. 40 100)

Conduct performance reviews and manage disciplinary procedures

Promote a high-performance team culture

Chick Master Petersime or PasReform systems
-
Hatchery management software & MS Office
-
Strong grasp of chick quality standards incubation parameters hygiene and trend analysis
