Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated individual to perform a variety of domestic cleaning and associated duties to ensure the safety welfare physical and mental well-being of children and all users of the Centre throughout the day. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for the children and staff.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Cleaning Domestic and Premises Duties
- Vacuuming carpets cleaning floors work surfaces and toys; polishing window shelves furniture and woodwork; emptying wastepaper into sacks and following the Council s safe working practices.
- Spot mopping cleaning spillages and washing floors as necessary depending on use and nature of the surfaces.
- Cleaning toilets including lavatory pans hand basins fixtures and fittings using clean fluids and disinfectants as appropriate in accordance with safe working practices; replacing toilet rolls as required; cleaning potties after use by the children.
- Cleaning and scouring sinks and keeping other basic domestic equipment and machinery in a clean and workable condition; reporting any defects or faults to the Head of Centre.
- Ensuring sufficient cleaning materials are available checking stock levels and informing the Head of Centre when supplies are low; putting away materials and equipment after cleaning ensuring equipment is clean.
- Reporting any health and safety hazards to the Head of Centre.
- Operating Centre washing machines and dryers loading the machines to wash and dry garments towels face cloths dressing up clothes and any items as required.
- Being responsible for the safety of the utility area and parent/children kitchen area ensuring all machinery is switched off and safe when not in use mopping up any spillage immediately and safely storing all cleaning chemicals when not in use following the Council s safe working practices.
- Preparing light snacks as required and cleaning and washing up dishes.

- Proven experience in cleaning and domestic duties
- Knowledge of health and safety practices
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and machinery
- Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Requirements: Full-time availability for a year Ability to work 36 hours per week Resilient and able to thrive in challenging situations Attention to detail and creative problem-solving skills Comfortable with confrontation and able to deal with difficult situations Availability for out-of-hours meetings and lone working Daily use of a car and a full driving license
