What Youll Do:

As a Process Safety Engineer youll be at the forefront of our innovation of being accountable for the implementation management and continuous improvement of the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) program at our Bayport/Deer Park site. The Process Safety Engineerwill provide engineering leadership in various aspects of Process Safety with a mission towards providing engineering and risk management solutions for the Lubrizol Corporations Bayport/Deer Park Operating facility to ensure safe and reliable operations. The Process Safety Engineer will be equipped with the required skills and knowledge and thereby also expected to be able to work independently to primarily support our Bayport/Deer Park facility.

What Were Looking For:

• Provide day-to-day process safety support for assigned units including:
  • Facilitate PHA revalidation and Capital Projects PHAs LOPA and prepare for and Complete PHA management reviews with final reports.
  • Participate in incident investigations help classify Process Safety incidents and participate in / lead investigations as needed.
  • Review Management of Change requests including support for determining when a Process Hazard Analysis is needed. Participate in PSSRs.
  • Management of action items entry with tracking in the database and work with units to facilitate action item closure. Support in providing guidance for ALARP and IPL determination.
  • Support management of KPIs update Reactivity Matrices as needed for assigned units and support PSM Manual Updates/Revision.
  • Support in ASVS program compliance including gap assessment and developing compliance plan.
• Manage development and implementation of both tactical and strategic PSM and RMP programs. Serve as PSM point of contact providing regulatory compliance guidance for PSM/RMP programs. Advise and assist Managers Supervisors Engineers and Contractor Safety Representatives to ensure that the site operates within Lubrizols process safety policies and performance standards.
• Participate in site and Lubrizol corporate process safety initiatives to develop and implement site procedures and technical guidelines associated with PSM/RMP elements to ensure company standardization of process safety practices. Perform gap analysis to standardize Lubrizol PSM/RMP work processes.
• Support and lead Process PSM audits as needed locally and regionally.
• Develop and provide relevant Process Safety training for the site.

Skills That Make a Difference:

• Bachelors degree or higher degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 8 years experience in a chemical orpetrochemical manufacturing site with Process Safety Management experience.
• Experience in hazard identification risk analyses facility siting relief sizing and PHA-LOPA facilitation.
• Knowledgeable in industry codes standards and RAGAGEP relevant to process design and safety (e.g. ASME API NFPA ANSI IEC etc).
• Working knowledge of engineering software tools such as PHA-Pro PHA works PHAST are considered a plus.
• Ability to proactively work across different departments building strong collaborative relationships to go above and beyond in achieving superior process safety results.
• Strong communicator with the ability to positively influence decision makers by being a change agent capturing opportunities to deliver high standard results.
