Are you a dedicated professional with strong teamwork skills and strategic thinking ready to enhance park and trail amenities Parks has four system regions each with uniquely developed parks facilities trails and recreational amenities. Your primary focus will be to provide supervisory and administrative oversight to ensure these facilities and programs are engaging fun safe and meet the needs of our citizens.
Much of the work involves developing community programs and events developing maintenance plans managing properties and scheduling and supervising work priorities. This ensures that park facilities and programs are engaging fun safe and meet the desires and needs of our citizens. Effective regional oversight requires excellent communication with park residents collaboration with community partners and the ability to navigate challenging situations involving competing interests. Continuous observation and evaluation of current policies and practices are essential to ensure the ongoing success of these heavily used park and trail systems. You will need insight interest and ability to connect with local groups and stakeholders to develop existing relationships and create new opportunities.

Pierce County Parks and Recreation manages over 5200 acres of open space trails developed and undeveloped parks. We provide recreation programs and infrastructure in active and passive parks and trails. The department consists of three divisions: Parks and Recreation Administration and Resource Stewardship. How to Succeed in the Role:
This role requires knowledge and experience in park and trail maintenance standards programming and partnerships public event planning and development marketing and promotions facility scheduling personnel management staff mentoring and coaching and community relationship building. Budget development and fiscal oversight of regional operational expenditures are also necessary. Candidates should have strong computer skills including database use program schedulers Microsoft Office products email/TEAMS/ZOOM social media and internet navigation. During the training process regular meetings with your supervisor will be held to discuss expectations and set goals for yourself and those under your supervision.
Your Future in this Role:
The Parks and Recreation Manager at Pierce County Parks is a mid-management position with regional oversight responsibilities. As part of the Parks and Recreation Division you will report directly to the Deputy Director. This role encompasses various activities aimed at supporting business processes through community engagement benefiting all residents and workers of Pierce County.
