Description

THE CHINESEMEDICINEHOSPITAL OF HONG KONG

The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) is a flagship Chinese medicine(CM) institution leading the development of CM including Chinese medicines (CMs) in Hong Kong. The CMHHK adopts a public-private partnership model. The HKSAR Government has financed the construction and selected the Hong Kong Baptist University as the contractor to incorporate the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited as the operator to manage operate and maintain the CMHHK.

The CMHHK is targeted to commence hospital services by phases at the end of 2025. The CMHHK aims to offer comprehensive CM care ranging from primary secondary to tertiary services and promote advanced and specialised CM services. The CMHHK will pioneer integrated Chinese-western medicine (ICWM) services to cater to different patient needs. Inpatient day-patient and outpatient treatments and also community services will be offered by the CMHHK. Both Government-subsidised services and add-on market-oriented services will be provided to ensure accessibility and to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.

With a view to prioritising education training innovation and research including collaboration with local and overseas universities to advance evidence-based clinical research and develop CM theories and clinical applications the CMHHK is now looking for the following talent to join our team.

Nursing Officer (Infection Control) ()

Responsibilities:

Report to the Senior Nursing Officerand be responsible for the following duties:

  • Lead and direct the infection prevention and control (IPC) team to the establishment promotion implementation and review of IPC programmes effectively;
  • Lead and direct the establishment of safe and efficient systems of Central Sterile Supplies Unit in line with the best practices and organisational standards;
  • Review annual and ongoing risk assessment and implement strategies to reduce the risk of infections;
  • Review data and records of healthcare-associated infections. Collect analyse and identify trends and risk factors and report findings implement corrective/preventive measures accordingly;
  • Ensures that existing standards and guidelines of applicable professional organisations and regulatory and governmental agencies are incorporated into the IPC program especially for CM programmes;
  • Alert senior management of IPC issues and recommend measures for execution;
  • Provide updates and reports on IPC measures to IPC Committee and other relevant committees;
  • Serves as a consultant and resource person regarding IPC issues for all personnel collaborates with other healthcare professionals within and outside of the hospital;
  • Conduct staff orientation training and implement IPC education programmes;
  • Develop and implement the organisations pandemic preparedness plan and emergency response plan on IPC;
  • Conduct research activities pertaining to IPC;
  • Ensure quality control of instruments and equipment processing and dispatching within the hospital and on fixed asset register;
  • Facilitate effective co-ordination co-operation and communication across all healthcare teams and departments to ensure any problems are addressed promptly;
  • Foster sound professional collaborative relationships with members of clinical leadership management team frontline and the public;
  • Maintain good communication with doctor patients and relatives;
  • Maintain and enhance nursing practice standards through participation in quality improvement programs; and
  • Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor(s).

Requirements:

  • A bachelors degree in Nursing and preferably with a post-graduate Master Degree in Nursing or Healthcare / Heath Services discipline;
  • Holder of a Certificate of Registration (Part I) and a valid Practicing Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong;
  • Minimum 10 years of post-qualification clinical nursing experience with at least 3 years in nursing management role;
  • Relevant post-registration nursing specialty qualifications and / or management training is preferable;
  • Strong leadership and influencing skill and good interpersonal skills;
  • Experience in nursing recruitment training and service development activities;
  • Staff coaching and mentoring skill is essential; and
  • Fluent in spoken and written Chinese and English Languages.

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract by Hong Kong Baptist University. Following the commencement of CMH and subject to the candidates satisfactory performance and the decision of CMH subsequent appointment will be offered directly by CMH.

Work location: Kowloon Tong Campus and will be moved to The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong in Tseung Kwan O when close to commissioning.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
