About the role

As a Clinical Coder you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of patient health records working closely with clinicians and the coding this role you will:

  • Apply your coding expertise by reviewing patient records (paper and electronic) accurately allocating ICD-10-AM and ACHI codes and assigning DRGs using Solventum Coding and Grouping software in line with Australian Coding Standards and NSW Health guidelines.

  • Work collaboratively with health professionals to clarify diagnoses and procedures ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality is maintained at all times.

  • Contribute to quality and compliance through coding audits HACs reviews clinical reviews as well as maintaining PICQ and RISQ indicators.

  • Support continuous improvement and innovation by staying up to date with coding developments implementing new practices from IHACPA/NSW Health and actively participating in quality initiatives such as EQUIP.

  • Grow and share your expertise by assisting with training new coders answering coding queries and contributing to weekly cliniciancoder meetings.

About you

Were looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Clinical Coder who is passionate about accuracy and quality in health information. To succeed in this role you will bring:

  • Formal qualifications in clinical coding completion of a recognised coding course (HIMAA OTEN) or a relevant tertiary qualification in Health Information Management with proven coding experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in ICD-10-AM coding with a strong knowledge of Australian Coding Standards and medical terminology.

  • Proficiency in coding systems and technology including Solventum Coding and Grouping software along with strong computer skills.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinicians and colleagues.

  • A proactive and flexible approach able to work both independently and as part of a supportive team with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
