About the Role

Formed in 1882 Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (RPAH) is a major metropolitan tertiary referral hospital and a principal provider of specialist healthcare. It remains one of the nations most respected hospitals with a distinguished history serving the health needs of local statewide national and international communities.

The Aboriginal Health Worker Female (AHWF) is responsible to provide culturally appropriate antenatal and postnatal (up to 6 weeks) support to improve the birthing experiences and birthing outcomes experienced by Aboriginal women in AHWF will provide direct assistance and support to expectant mothers and ensure culturally appropriate dealings with other health professionals and support staff during their stay at RPAH.

Experience in the role is desirable but not essential. This position will be working Monday to Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm although there can be flexibility in start times if needed.

Ideal Candidate

This is an Aboriginal identified position the applicant must be of Aboriginal descent by proof of Aboriginality identify as Aboriginal and be accepted as such by the community.
