Research Assistant Professor (Medicinal Chemistry and Herbal-based New Drug R&D) ()
Responsibilities:
- Conduct new drug research and development based on pharmacy or chemistry including but not limited to: applying medicinal chemistry design strategies high-throughput screening technologies optimisation of drug synthesis processes and pharmacodynamic evaluation methods to carry out discovery and optimisation research on herbal based small-molecule innovative drugs targeting major disease targets;
- Lead or participate in interdisciplinary R&D projects to promote the translation of candidate drugs from the laboratory stage to preclinical research;
- Guide graduate students and junior researchers in conducting experimental work;
- Independently or collaboratively apply for research funding projects; and
- Participate in academic exchanges and cooperation.
Requirements:
- Hold Ph.D. degree in Pharmacy Chemistry Medicinal Chemistry or related disciplines with postdoctoral research experience preferred;
- Possess relevant experience in new drug R&D with research experience in fields such as small-molecule drug design and synthesis compound library construction drug-target interaction research and ADMET property optimisation;
- Have the ability to independently design experimental schemes analyse experimental data and write English scientific research papers; and
- Be passionate about new drug R&D with strong sense of innovation research enthusiasm and team spirit and good project management and communication skills.
Work Location: Hong Kong Baptist University and Hong Kong Science Park
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract up to three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
