Skilled Trades Manager Carpentry Salary: $60-65000.00 I. Position Purpose Under the guidance and direction of the Dean and Associate Dean of Workforce Development the Skilled Trades Manager performs the following key duties: Provide multi-disciplined credit and non-credit instructional services each semester including but not limited to topics in: Carpentry - Basic Framing Interior/Exterior Finishes Concrete and Rigging Commercial Construction; Actively engage industry partners to connect students to employment opportunities. Provide student centered project management including but not limited to estimation scheduling and ordering. Maintain and process materials associated with the Department. Perform academic advising activities as necessary. Engage in professional development opportunities in both teaching and discipline-specific theory and practice. Support the Fairfield County Workforce Center and Hocking College Workforce Development Department in department activities for recruitment strategic planning and mission. Adhere to and maintain a safe working area in accordance with facility departmental and OSHA regulations. II. Duties and Responsibilities i. Provide Instructional Services Provide instruction as scheduled and effectively manage course operations. Adhere to course outcomes and curriculum which are consistent with Academic Affairs department and technology/program goals. Convey course outcomes and expectations to students according to college policy. Organize and manage instructional activities. Use appropriate learner-centered instructional methods. Provide evaluation methods appropriate to stated outcomes. Fairly evaluate student learning. Maintain accurate records of evaluation and course work including attendance. Submit grades as required and on time. Regularly seeks feedback on course delivery and student learning. Participate in course revisions and/or update regularly. ii. Actively Engage Industry Partners Formulate and implement goals for growth. Identify industry development needs through continuous improvement cycles. Identify industry partners for students placement into practicum or workforce. Meet with industry advisory boards regularly. iii. Provide student centered project management In coordination with the department provide tactile learning opportunities through classroom projects that mimic real world scenarios. Coordinate projects to be completed in a timely fashion. Provide learning opportunities through estimation scheduling and human resource management to bring projects to fruition. Maintain tools and materials as required. iv. Perform Student Academic Advising Activities Assist with the recruitment and placement of students as needed. Encourage students involvement in the advising process. Maintain sufficient office hours compatible with student schedules. Advise students having difficulty in class/practicum work. Maintain appropriate student files. Direct students to the appropriate department and College resources. Maintain confidentiality. v. Engage in Continuous Professional Development Formulate and implement goals for growth. Identify own professional development needs consistent with the mission of the College Academic Affairs and department. Maintain or attain appropriate certification licensure or credentialing. Seek appropriate resources to meet goals for continuous improvement. Participate in department Academic Affairs and College faculty/staff development programs. vi. Participates in Department Activities Work cooperatively with others to accomplish the goals of the department and technology. Share expertise and materials with other department members. Work constructively to resolve individual and department concerns. Actively participate in technology and department activities and meetings. Follow departmental policies. vii. Proactively identify and assist in promoting the program and department Assist in the development of materials about the program. Represent the programs to students prospective students and other interested parties. Participate in advisory committee meetings and updates. Collaborate and assist in programming for career/program exploration camps. Participate in program relevant community & networking events. III. Qualifications Education Experience and Skills Associates degree in construction engineering or related field of study required. 5 years of experience in commercial and/or residential carpentry. Industry-specific license certifications and/or current Occupational Safety and Health Administration Construction and/or General Industry authorized trainer preferred. Skills in: o Reading understanding and using technical drawings and blueprints. o Use and ability to instruct using industry required tools and equipment including but not limited to hand tools power tools electrical test equipment benders and concrete tools. o Strong organizational record-keeping and interpersonal skills. o Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). o Strong technology skills including usage of Microsoft Office and Email. Experience with AutoCAD and Blackboard LMS system preferred. Interest in and commitment to the learner-centered educational process. Caring attitude toward students.
