Job Description
Applications are invited from outstanding postdoctoral researchers for the position of Research Assistant Professor in the Division of Humanities at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
We seek to appoint a Research Assistant Professor to build research capacity in philosophy of science. We particularly encourage applicants who work in integrated history and philosophy of science. Expertise in philosophy of biology and/or philosophy of social science would be an advantage. A successful candidate should be able to teach introductory philosophy of science and analytic philosophy courses.
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Appointment will be made on a fixed-term 2-year contract renewable subject to performance funding availability and mutual agreement. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract. Fringe benefits include annual leave medical and dental benefits. Housing allowance may be provided where applicable. The starting date of the position should be no later than 1 September 2025.
Applicants should have a commitment to research and teaching excellence. They should have a PhD a strong publication record and a developing trajectory as Principal or Co-Investigator on funded projects.
The appointee will be expected to publish strongly write RGC GRF grant proposals manage graduate students and/or Post-doctoral Fellows organise workshops and seminars develop international collaborations and contribute to the HKUST Philosophy of Science Research Group. The appointee will teach one undergraduate course in Humanities for general education and/or one postgraduate course on the MPhil in Humanities program offered by the School of Humanities and Social Science. English is the medium of instruction and administration at the University.
