Job Description

This position consists of 2 12 hour shifts (7a-7) and 2 8 hour shifts (8:00-4:30). This position has 60% charge responsibilties and 40% administrative responsibilities.

Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center is 420 bed teaching hospital trauma center neonatal intensive care unit geriatrics center and is home to the Johns Hopkins Burn Center the only adult burn trauma in Maryland. Embark on an exciting journey as a valued member of our esteemed team at Johns Hopkins Bayviews Medical A Unit. We are currently seeking a passionate dedicated and clinically sound Assistant Patient Care Manager to join our Medical Unit which has a diverse range of chronic conditions including diabetes asthma pneumonia as well as chronic cardiac pulmonary and renal conditions. This is a bustling 31-bed unit serving a large diverse customer area. This position requires charge responsibilities approximately 60% of the time.

The Assistant Patient Care Manager (PCM) oversees the delivery ofnursing care on an assigned patient care unit on a 24-hour 7 day a week basis; manages professional and non-professional staff which includes interviewing hiring mentoring new and lesser experienced employees coaching/discipline completing performance appraisals ensuring that employees are properly educated/trained tracks licenses/certifications employee engagement etc. Also responsible for monitoring patient safety (HERO) hourly rounding assisting PCMs with professional presentations program development performance improvement initiatives and departmental based and organization wide projects. This position is ideal for someone interested instarting their managementcareer under the mentorship of the unit Patient Care Manager.

Who Should Apply:

  • BSN required.
  • 3 years of previous RN leadership experience.
  • Work requires the analytical skills necessary to resolve problems requiring a professional level of knowledge in a specific disciplinet/field and/or improve enhance or upgrade complex clinical financial data processing marketing or human resources systems and programs.
  • Work requires the communication skills necessary to effectively manage the emloyees within assigned department and to persuade and negotiate with peer-level managers on issues and programs that impact the department. Work requires effectively dealing with conflicting views or issues and mediating fair and workable solutions.
  • Active Maryland or Compact RN license is required.
  • BLS CPR certification required.
  • Ability to lead others communicate effectively problem solve motivate others promote cost-effective use of resources and apply principles of evidence-based practice.

Salary Range: Minimum 48.32/hour - Maximum 74.90/ will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
