Department Details

The mission of the Flow Cytometry Core is to assist all the investigators in the Sanford community and their regional collaborators.

The Flow Cytometry Core provides a centralized resource of state-of-art equipment and expertise for multi-color flow cytometry and cell sorting services. Specialized staff assists users with experimental design equipment optimization and operation and data analysis.

For more information visit non-complex to moderately-complex laboratory testing experiments and analyses following established protocols. Daily administrative responsibilities of the lab. Participates in the development of protocols revisions amendments and monitor plan & scope. Maintains records of research. Compile and analyze data. Make figures and graphs to represent data. Responsible for regulatory record keeping and training. Supervises maintenance and servicing of research center shared equipment and facilities. Participates in regular meetings with other senior technical staff from other research centers to resolve issues related to purchasing lab infrastructure facility status lab/ office logistical functions and intra research center cooperation. Required to serve as a representative of research center interests and needs on multi-research center committees panels and groups.

Job Description

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Set up and Operate Flow Cytometers and Sorters

Perform all necessary QC and machine troubleshooting

Perform routine laboratory benchwork

Analyze data

Tracking and reporting inventory supplies.

Assisting Core Users with instrument and software training. Assist Core Users to troubleshoot a variety of general issues related to data acquisition data analysis and data storage.

Assisting in the execution of Core related projects.

Effectively communicate with senior technical staff office staff and other clients clearly and professionally.

Resolves issues and performs duties as required to meet customer requirements

Candidate must be able to work independently and as a team player.

QUALIFICATIONS

BA or BS (4 year Degree).

Previous experience in flow cytometry preferred

Good computer proficiency with MS-Office Suite including Word Excel and Outlook as well as strong data entry skills

Familiarity with Flow-Jo software packages is preferred

Good customer service skills with the ability to remain calm pleasant and professional during times of stress.

Good work ethic with the ability to complete work accurately and timely with general direction.

Good professional and effective communication skills verbal and written.

Sanford Research is a multi-site institution and occasional local travel between sites may be required.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in a clinical health or life science field required.

Demonstrated prior experience and competence in research a environment preferred.
