About Our Opportunity

Reporting to the CEO the Executive Director Transportation Planning and Partnerships provides strategic leadership and operational management for various Link Nova Scotia corporate functions including budgeting and financial planning records and information management administrative support services business continuity and FOIPOP in accordance with Ministry policy and process.

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team this role provides leadership and coordination contributing to business planning and development of Link Nova Scotias strategic direction. The Executive Director Transportation Planning and Partnerships must have thorough knowledge of government policy and process legislation and associated processes. The Executive Director plays a pivotal role in fostering collaborative relationships with Department of Public Works and the Link Nova Scotia Senior Leadership across government and external partners to establish priorities allocate resources effectively and drive continuous improvement through trend analysis best practice research evidence-based decisions and a commitment to excellent client service.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors degree in civil engineering transportation planning urban planning or related field with several years of progressive experience in transportation planning engineering and project management with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

In addition to the above the following skills and experience are required:

  • Strong understanding of transportation policies regulations and funding mechanisms at all levels of government.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large-scale transportation planning and infrastructure projects and programs from conception to completion.
  • Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and foster a culture of teamwork and innovation.
  • Proven ability to navigate complex political regulatory and organizational environments building consensus and driving change in support of transportation goals and objectives.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities including experience managing multidisciplinary teams fostering a collaborative work environment and driving organizational change.
  • Proven track record in a large complex public sector organization demonstrating strategic and innovative thinking with an understanding of public sector priorities and reporting requirements.
  • Proven track record in strategic planning operations and budget management requiring creativity and political astuteness. Good knowledge of relevant legislation regulations standards and codes related to regional transportation and the strategic objectives of Government.

This position requires an individual who is energetic purpose driven takes initiative and executes without considerable oversight capable of prioritizing adjusting quickly to challenging changing conditions and has a quick finger on the pulse of the organization.

The successful applicant will be results-oriented and thrive as a member of a high-functioning team while being able to produce high quality work independently. The successful applicant will have excellent written and verbal communication skills has a natural ability to build and develop an effective team with experience assessing a groups strengths and weaknesses and developing a road map for success.

Working Conditions

Your normal work week is 35 hours/week 7 hours/day. You may be required to work overtime on occasion.

The majority of your work is conducted in a comfortable office environment with moderate travel required within and outside of the Province.

There is pressure to meet deadlines while juggling a diverse number of projects that require ongoing planning/revising. You must be able to manage stressful complex situations and balance many different issues and considerations. Work is often subject to extensive scrutiny and criticism by the public and by the diverse communities served.

Salary Range: $5556.38- $6945.46Bi-Weekly
