Description

Kids Club Counselor Lower School

Maclay School is currently seeking an experienced responsible after-school counselor with a genuine passion for working with children to apply for the Lower School Kids Club After-School Counselor

Purpose: The main responsibility of this position is to support students by fostering an enjoyable safe and enriching experience through simple crafts games and any other duty as assigned by the respective Director of Kids Club for the Lower School.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster the physical emotional and social well-being of students in the Lower Schools after school care program and Maclay Camps Kids Club seasonal program.
  • Support and engage in activities that incorporate Maclays Mission and Vision into the daily routine.
  • Lead group activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the students attending.
  • Maintain records of attendance and sign-in/out sheets provided by the respective Director of Kids Club
  • Effectively communicate with the respective Director of Kids Club when questions or concerns are presented.
  • Report any problems which arise with students enrichments or staff to their respective Director in a timely manner.
  • Supervise assist and actively participate in all aspects of the students afternoon.
  • Maintain positive relationships with students by showing sensitivity to students emotional needs and problem solving any student issues effectively.
  • Act as a role model for students by following all policies and demonstrating enthusiasm sense of humor and self-control.
  • Implement positive behavior-management and responsive classroom techniques.
  • Help maintain space and supplies.

General:

  • Demonstrates and enthusiastically supports the Schools Mission and values of integrity accountability respect compassion and excellence.
  • Performs in a manner that reflects positively on Maclay School
  • Builds deep relationships with students families and staff to foster a culture of inclusion.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Physical Demands:

  • The role necessitates frequent standing walking running bending stooping kneeling crouching and crawling to engage effectively with children at their level.
  • It requires the ability to reach with hands and arms and to manipulate objects tools or controls with hands.
  • The employee will frequently be required to lift carry and move items weighing up to 25 pounds such as repositioning children and handling instructional materials.
  • The position demands agility to move swiftly in response to various situations.
  • Clear and audible communication is essential for providing instructions and interacting effectively.
  • The ability to hear and comprehend speech at normal levels is necessary for effective communication with children.
  • Close visual acuity is required for tasks such as observing detailed aspects of objects reading preparing classroom materials and supervising children.

Work Environment:

  • The work setting is dynamic and may be noisy due to the presence of children. This role may also involve exposure to outdoor weather conditions during the supervision of outdoor activities.

  • Demonstrated experience working with children in a group setting.
  • Ability to teach and lead various recreational activities.

  • The desire and ability to work in a cooperative collaborative atmosphere.
  • Enthusiasm sense of humor patience and self-control.
  • Part time availability Monday through Friday from 2pm 6:00pm; Additional hours may present due to special events
