Job Overview
The Network Engineer will be responsible for providing second level support for network incidents providing support for the Global Infrastructure team managing existing network infrastructure and implementing new network solutions to include troubleshooting and security management.
Job Responsibilities
- Build operate and optimize the Krones Group global network (LAN and WAN).
- Deploy enhance and modify network configurations including Cisco and Palo Alto Networks architectures and designs as required by business needs.
- Work with cross-functional teams including but not limited to compute storage database both on-premises and public cloud infrastructures.
- Handle support tickets and provide user support for network-related issues.
- Perform software updates and regular maintenance within the global network infrastructure.
- Manage the life cycle of network hardware including deployment maintenance and decommissioning.
- Manage network security for the Krones Group including firewalls web applications firewalls and other security measures.
- Create and maintain documentation and configuration management databases.
- Ability to work and collaborate effectively in a global team.
- Collaborate with external suppliers and Internet Service Providers.
- Participate in on-call rotations and shift work to ensure 24/7 network support and availability.
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a network engineering role for a medium to large-sized company.
- Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or equivalent qualifications.
- Hands-on experience with major network products such as Cisco Palo Alto Networks and other mainstream vendors.
- Intermediate knowledge of SD-WAN and SASE concepts.
- Knowledge of standard network protocols such as TCP/UDP TLS IPv4/IPv6 DNSDHCP or SNMP.
- Proficient understanding of NAC concepts (IEEE 802.1X Cisco ISE)
- Proficient problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with a strong focus on customer service.
- Willingness to travel.
- Willingness to work a flexible work schedule.
- Self-motivated with strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant industry certifications such as ITIL 4 Foundation CompTIA A Network Security Microsoft IT Support CCNA PCNSA and/or similar certifications are desirable.
