This includes the development planning marketing and implementation of the programs in accordance with the mission vision and values of YWCA Toronto and the needs of the addition this position is responsible for the indirect oversight of the shelters food services program and front desk staff. This middle management position is responsible for contributing to the overall management of the AssociationABOUT YWCA TORONTO YWCA DAVENPORTYWCA Davenport provides emergency shelter beds to young women and gender-diverse people (16 24 years of age) and adult women and gender-diverse people (25 and older) and is staffed 24 hours a day. This pet friendly shelter is funded by the City of Toronto and adheres to Toronto Shelter Standards.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares and monitors the budgets for Davenport shelter & Choices for Living Program in consultation with the Director of Shelters and Clinical Services and the Director of Finance and Information Technology;
- Initiates and implements in collaboration with the Director of Shelters and Clinical Services and the Director of Philanthropy annual fundraising and marketing plans;
- Ensures the hiring training supervision and regular evaluation of all program staff students and volunteers of both Davenport Shelter & Choices for Living Program in accordance with the Human Resources policies of the Association and in consultation with the Director of Shelters and Clinical Services;
- Ensures the implementation of the Collective Agreement in consultation with the Director of Human Resources and the Director of Shelters and Clinical Services;
- Develops in collaboration with the Senior Manager of Equity Diversity & Inclusion and the Director of Shelters and Clinical Services an annual Access & Equity plan for the programs;
- Ensures the implementation of YWCA Torontos Evaluation Framework in Davenport Shelter and Choices for Living Program. Completes logic models and issues participant surveys as required
- Participates with the Director of Advocacy and Communications on initiatives to make systemic changes in services to women.
- Participates with the Director to develop long and short-term plans for the programs to meet the identified needs of the participants and the overall organizational objectives
QUALIFICATIONS- Advanced knowledge of concepts and theories of social work group work and counselling normally acquired through the completion of a graduate degree in Social Work Psychology or Counselling or other relevant discipline (Cases for Equivalency will be considered);
- 5-7 years directly related experience in a shelter environment (or equivalent) providing support to individuals living with experiences of homelessness poverty violence/trauma and concurrent diagnosis;
- Management and supervisory experience required;
- Ability to understand and interpret legislation that includes the Mental Health Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code as well as government policies related to shelter management and accepted group management theory;
- Knowledge of financial and human resource management required;
- Previous work in a diverse unionized environment is an asset;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential;
- Conflict resolution crisis intervention/prevention counselling and coaching skills;
- Demonstrated leadership skills including problem solving organizational and time management skills;
- A thorough knowledge of women and gender diverse peoples services and access and equity issues is required
- Strong knowledge and competency working with diverse groups from an anti-oppressive and trauma informed framework.
- A working knowledge of current computer applications is necessary e.g. Windows 11 Microsoft Office 2010 GP Dynamics accounting software E-mail and Internet and information databases.
