This is a 2nd shift role working at our facility in Hatfield PA. The hours are Monday to Friday from2:30 PM to 11:00 PM. LTI offers a 10% shift differential for working 2nd shift.

The Machine Shop Assistant will perform various tasks to support the day-to-day machining and testing operations including but not limited to inspecting machined parts deburring polishing packaging marking cleaning and organizing scrap material as required.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all types of secondary shop operations such as inspection of parts deburring polishing packaging marking and cleaning as assigned by the Machine Shop Supervisor.
  • Maintains a calibration recall list to ensure all shop instruments that are due for calibration are located and transported to the calibration department.
  • Use customer supplied drawings and documents to layout and mark material prior to cutting.
  • Operate a forklift and pallet jack to organize and discard scrap material and chips.
  • Retrieve scrap material for retesting as assigned by the Machine Shop Supervisor.
  • Assists with maintaining shop equipment. This includes cleaning the equipment performing preventive maintenance as scheduled and performing repair maintenance as required.
  • Assists with maintaining an open house shop appearance at all times. This includes cleaning sweeping moping and operating a battery powered floor cleaner.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Maintains assigned work area(s) in a clean organized and safe condition at all times.
  • Understands and complies with LTIs QA Program at all times.
  • Seeks clarification when specifications or directions are unclear.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures at all times.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations at all times and utilizes personal protective equipment as required.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Machine Shop Supervisor or the Machine Shop Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Forklift experience preferred. Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to process work with accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic understanding of how to operate small shop tools and equipment.
  • Ability to push pull lift and/or carry up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or possess a valid green card.

This position requires use of information or access to processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export laws including but not limited to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
