Description

SUMMARY: The Residential Manager (RM) will directly supervise the assigned staff on duty at the residential sites during their assigned hours and will be the primary backup for the designated Home Manager and Direct Support Staff. They will be involved in the training and scheduling of the staff to ensure that properly trained staff is present and on shift. The RM is available to assist the staff on duty in facilitating services to individuals supported in accordance with their respective cost plan and the Individual Service Plan (ISP). They will also be a support for the staff on duty to assist them and individuals supported in all aspects of daily living activities and to ensure a safe and healthful environment is maintained including filling shifts as needed. Must attend all scheduled meetings and mandatory training as required. The Residential Manager assures the health safety and welfare of the individuals served.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following: Other duties may be assigned.

RESIDENTIAL DUTIES:

  1. As needed provide staff coverage for the individuals in coordination with the Home Manager and direct support staff. The objective is to minimize or eliminate overtime.
  2. Provide operational oversight and supervision of the residential sites while on duty. This oversight includes all direct support staff on duty.
  3. Participate in residential house meetings offering solutions alternative views points of discussion and information to ensure services are meeting the individuals needs. The staff meeting should be held at least monthly (or as needed) and involve staff associated with the individual and the home site.
  4. Conduct and complete the Comprehensive Home Audit Tool weekly in the absence of a home manager and report findings to the QA Department and the other partners in the residential unit (Program Coordinator and Vice President).
  5. Ensure homes have spending ledgers for all individuals supported and that house managers oversee the daily accounting of grocery household and personal funds.
  6. Review MAR sheets weekly to ensure they are correct and prescriptions are correct and to ensure compliance with the Medication Variance Reporting requirements.
  7. Review travel books to ensure accurate information is reflected in the health passport ISP daily note CB/FB log etc. Notify PC immediately if you suspect a discrepancy.
  8. Ensure the direct support staff provides support in the most respectful and professional manner.
  9. Ensure implementation of the safety and emergency action schedules such as fire evacuation and emergency action broad-range plans and ensure the documentation is submitted within the designated time to the appropriate parties each month.
  10. Ensure allegations of Abuse and Neglect are reported within a 4-hour time frame as required by DIDD policy.
  11. Accompany individuals on scheduled or emergency medical appointments/ consultations if direct support staff and/or the home manager are not available.
  12. Provide training to direct support staff on documentation requirements and the appropriate forms.
  13. In the absence of the home manager provide direct supervision to the direct support staff. If policy infractions occur coordinate counseling with PC and HR.
  14. Ensure persons served have qualified staff. This means support staff must demonstrate competency with the persons Individual Specific Needs i.e. ISP outcomes preferences dislikes non-negotiables risk factors etc. prior to working independently.
  15. Co-facilitate in-home staff meetings with the Home Manager (as needed).


SERVICE COORDINATION:

  1. Attend and participate in annual ISP and COS meetings for designated individuals served.
  2. Review assessments ISPs BSPs and other actions to ensure appropriate implementation by direct support staff.
  3. Ensure timely and accurate implementation of ISP outcomes for persons served in residential programs.
  4. Ensure a copy of the Policy and Procedure Manual is present in the home and the Policy and Procedure Manual is updated periodically.
  5. Coordinate with Program Coordinator to maintain all individual travel records in accordance with DIDD operations manual and licensure compliance standards.


FINANCIAL/FISCAL

  1. Coordinates staff training on the handling of consumer funds the use of the money forms in the home and the documentation requirements


SUPERVISOR AND MANAGEMENT DUTIES

  1. In the absence of the Home Manager the Residential Manager will establish the weekly and monthly staff schedules ensuring properly trained staff are scheduled and proper staff coverage is in place.
  2. Manage substandard employee performance in a professional manner document the counseling session and coordinate the activity with the Human Resources Department.
  3. Inform staff of changes in established policy and procedures and distribute notice of changes in a timely manner.
  4. Work with the Program Coordinator to ensure the service coordination is executed per the individuals ISP and needs.
  5. Participate as part of the on-call team (VP PC) to handle staff calls staff coverage as necessary and other related situations as they arise
  6. Communicate relevant issues with the Vice President Program Coordinator Chief of Nursing and the management team.


Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required. All DIDD and PDI training must be completed on time according to all local state federal and compliance guidelines. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required. 1-2 years experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Supervisory experience preferred. Successful completion of DIDD Core and PDI Training. Develop knowledge of persons supported.


REQUIREMENTS:

  1. A high school diploma or GED is preferred but not required.
  2. Valid Tennessee Kentucky or Alabama drivers license (military exemption available)
  3. Ability to read and follow directions.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  5. Satisfactory criminal background check and clear driving record
  6. Ability/availability to attend and pass all training courses offered and required Department of Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (DIDD) and PDI training.


LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers persons supported customers and the public.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and plane solid geometry and trigonometry fundamentals. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.


REASONING ABILITY: The ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. The ability to interpret a wide variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
