Job Summary:We are seeking a versatile and skilled Network Engineer - Generalist to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of our network infrastructure including design implementation monitoring troubleshooting and security. This role requires a broad understanding of networking technologies across on-premise and cloud environments and the ability to support various IT functions as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design configure and support LAN WAN wireless and VPN environments.
- Install and maintain network hardware (switches routers firewalls wireless APs).
- Monitor network performance diagnose issues and ensure high availability and security.
- Manage and troubleshoot firewalls proxies and load balancers (e.g. Cisco Fortinet Palo Alto).
- Support remote access technologies (VPN SSL IPsec).
- Collaborate with system admins cloud engineers and security teams to ensure cohesive infrastructure operations.
- Implement and enforce network policies procedures and documentation.
- Provide Level 2/3 support for network-related incidents and service requests.
- Assist with backup and disaster recovery planning for network components.
- Participate in on-call rotations and emergency troubleshooting as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 3 5 years of hands-on experience as a network engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP DNS DHCP NAT VLANs and subnetting.
- Experience with enterprise networking hardware (e.g. Cisco Juniper Ubiquiti Fortinet).
- Working knowledge of network security principles and tools.
- Familiarity with cloud networking (e.g. AWS VPCs Azure VNets) is a plus.
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g. PRTG SolarWinds Wireshark).
- Scripting or automation skills (e.g. Python PowerShell Ansible) are a plus.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNA CompTIA Network Fortinet NSE or equivalent preferred.
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive mindset and willingness to continuously learn.
Nice to Have:
- Experience supporting hybrid environments (on-prem cloud).
- Exposure to VoIP SD-WAN or NAC technologies.
- Familiarity with ITIL or other service management frameworks.
