Description

JOB TITLE: Community Residential Supervisor


I. Minimum Education/Experience

  1. Will consider associate degree in a related human services field or applicant with three (3) or more years experience working with people with developmental disabilities and familiar with current Medicaid Innovations Waiver Services.


II. Essential Job Functions

  1. Always maintain a valid drivers license and an acceptable driving record and be responsible for driving Center vans or other vehicles. Report all traffic citations to personnel office immediately and in writing.
  2. Responsible for ensuring that staff empathize with residents and treat them as valued individuals using Person Centered philosophy.
  3. Direct supervision and training of residence staff.
  4. Implement and recommend policies and procedures established by the Board of Directors or Administration and ensure that staff properly carry out all policies and procedures.
  5. Develop procedures/policies for residence operations and establish priorities and goals to continually upgrade acceptable standards of quality of work performed.
  6. Attend staff meetings.
  7. Assist Community Residential Coordinator with recommendations for residence staff promotions merit increases and evaluation of the employees performance which includes six-month conditional employment period annual employee evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  8. Initiate disciplinary actions deemed appropriate in accordance with established personnel policies and procedures in consideration with Community Residential Coordinator.
  9. Provide employees with counseling regarding job performance which includes praise and constructive criticism.
  10. Establish weekly work routines for residence staff and provide direct on the floor supervision of staff in carrying out said routines residents personal care and habilitation programs.
  11. Maintain an effective system of communications with staff Community Residential Coordinator parents and other departments.
  12. Requisition any supplies equipment and maintenance (report immediately) needed by the residence.
  13. Conduct staff meetings as assigned or as needed and submit minutes to Community Residential Coordinator.
  14. In cases of emergency involving the welfare of the residents make the necessary arrangements contact the proper authorities notify the Community Residential Coordinator Senior Director of Programs and the CEO.
  15. Maintain and provide adequate staff coverage for residences.
  16. Check electronic timecards weekly and ensure that time cards are correct.
  17. Structure plan and implement recreational activities and other spontaneous leisure time activities.
  18. Assign residence staff housekeeping grocery shopping and meal preparation assignments and other related duties.
  19. Submit routine monthly reports to the Community Residential Coordinator within the required time frame as assigned by the Community Residential Coordinator.
  20. Ensure that residence staff carry out and implement approved programmatic habilitation programs.
  21. Conduct daily verbal reports at change of shifts with rounds to ensure that assigned tasks have been completed and communication of needs and progress of residents has occurred.
  22. Responsible for keys assigned.
  23. Conduct monthly safety drills and document.
  24. Assign staff to assist with taking residents to doctors lab and hospital as needed.
  25. Maintain an effective safe and productive working environment and maintain preventive health care practices for the residents.
  26. Ensure that each occurrence of seizures residents contacts and accidents etc. are documented on appropriate forms and within an appropriate time frame.
  27. Deal with parental concern regarding clothes resident supervision staff special requests activities or care given to residents in an appropriate manner.
  28. In conjunction with the Community Residential Coordinator orient and train new staff members.
  29. Ensure that staff are safety conscious relative to themselves and residents.
  30. Responsible for driving Center vans or other vehicles.
  31. Routinely lift up to 40 pounds independently and routinely lift from 41 to 140 pounds with the assistance of one additional person.
  32. Provide personal care to residents.
  33. Provide and participate in routine and assigned housekeeping duties to assure a clean orderly environment for residents.
  34. Become certified in medication administration and management and supervise staff in approved medication administration and treatments as indicated on medicine administration record.
  35. Provide and ensure quality supervision and interaction with residents neighbors family members and Innovations Care Coordinator.
  36. Provide and participate in implementation and planning of habilitation training programs through the interdisciplinary team process.
  37. Provide and conduct in-service training for staff in areas of expertise.
  38. Perform other related duties as required.

IV. Recruitment Standards

  1. Knowledge of persons with developmental disabilities their needs and abilities.
  2. Provide leadership supervision and train or instruct staff under their supervision.
  3. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with families neighbors Innovations Care Coordinators and staff at the Center.
  4. Learn established techniques and procedures related to the care and training of individuals with developmental disabilities and multi-handicaps.
  5. Must have a phone so they can be accessible to the Center when needed.
  6. Function as a responsible and productive role model with a minimum of supervision.
  7. Must have a valid North Carolina drivers license and be insurable by the Centers liability insurance carrier.
  8. Routinely lift up to 40 pounds independently and routinely lift from 41 to 140 pounds with the assistance of one additional person.
