Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Pre-Bid Process: Review proposal specifications analyze drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to fully define the scope of work and identify all components needed for a winning estimate.
- Build Estimates from the Ground Up: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs research material pricing calculate labor man-hours and assess equipment costs to create accurate competitive bids.
- Leverage Data for Smarter Bids: Research and analyze historical data including purchase orders subcontracts and productivity reports to establish benchmarks and best practices for future estimates.
- Collaborate on Bid Strategies: Contribute to the preparation of complete bid package documents ensuring accuracy clarity and compliance with project requirements.
- Adapt & Contribute: Take on additional estimating or preconstruction tasks as assigned supporting the overall success of the estimating team.
What You Bring to the Table
- Educational Foundation: Bachelor s degree in Engineering Construction Management or related field preferred or equivalent hands-on experience in commercial estimating.
- Proven Experience: At least 5 years of commercial estimating success with a track record of translating plans and drawings into accurate competitive bids.
- Technical Fluency: Skilled in reading interpreting and responding to engineering drawings technical plans purchase orders and contracts all in clear professional English.
- Client & Stakeholder Communication: Comfortable engaging with customers regulatory agencies and business partners providing clear and confident responses to inquiries.
- Math & Measurement Mastery: Strong command of fractions percentages ratios and proportions plus the ability to apply geometric formulas and equations to calculate areas volumes and quantities for take-offs.
- Estimating Expertise: Solid understanding of estimating techniques cost control and material pricing with the ability to balance accuracy competitiveness and profitability.
