SUMMARY Sunwest Bank is hiring an Engineering Managerto lead its internal software development team and coordinate offshore developers across LATAM and Southeast Asia. This role involves managing a small on-site team overseeing offshore productivity and billing and ensuring high technical standards and timely cost-effective delivery. Responsibilities include planning engineering workstreams implementing efficient development processes and evaluating project management tools (currently Azure DevOps with potential transition to Jira). The ideal candidate is technically strong organized and able to engage in code and architecture reviews while effectively communicating with engineering product and business stakeholders. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Lead and manage the internal software development team.
- Coordinate offshore development teams in LATAM and Southeast Asia.
- Ensure all engineering teams meet high technical standards and deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Plan and prioritize engineering workstreams across teams.
- Track offshore team productivity and manage billing processes.
- Establish and refine processes for efficient cost-effective development.
- Evaluate and drive adoption of project management tools (e.g. Azure DevOps Jira).
- Participate in code and architecture reviews as needed.
- Facilitate clear communication between engineering product and business stakeholders.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position does not have supervisory responsibilities Required Qualifications - Experience: 510 years in software engineering including leadership roles. Proven success managing on-site and offshore teams and delivering complex projects.
- Technical Skills: Strong coding and architecture review capabilities. Familiar with cloud-based applications and DevOps. Experience with Azure DevOps; open to evaluating tools like Jira.
- Project Management: Skilled in managing multiple teams and projects using agile methods. Able to track team output offshore productivity and billing accuracy.
- Budget & Cost Control: Experienced in managing budgets and vendor contracts. Capable of optimizing resources and balancing onshore/offshore efforts for cost efficiency.
- Leadership & Communication: Effective at leading distributed teams and mentoring engineers. Strong communicator across technical and business stakeholders.Preferred Qualifications
- Global Team Management: Experience managing offshore teams across US LATAM and Asia time zones; skilled in cross-cultural collaboration.
- Tooling & Process Improvement: Strong knowledge of project management and CI/CD tools; familiar with Azure DevOps and Jira; experienced in improving dev QA and deployment workflows.
- Industry Knowledge: Background in financial services or fintech is a plus; solid engineering management experience in tech is essential.
- Cloud Platform: Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud architecture is beneficial.
