Job Summary

The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West Great South Upper wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of Services including GP Clinics primary health Care Counselling NDIS and community host various programs. SWAMS has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.

The SWAMS is dedicated to enhancing employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This position is designated under Section 50 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA) and as such only Aboriginal people are eligible to apply.

About the team

The Learning & Development (L&D) team at SWAMS is excited to announce a newly created position! Youll be working alongside our current Learning & Development Coordinator in a team that plays a vital role in supporting the growth and development of our employees helping them deliver the best possible service to our community.

About the role

  • Coordinating and maintaining staff training records.
  • Arranging invoices for training registrations and learning systems.
  • Scanning and organising L&D documents uploading certificates and updating staff profiles.
  • Booking approved training workshops and conferences including venues and catering.
  • Organising staff accommodation and interstate travel and providing itineraries.
  • Liaising with facilitators to deliver mandatory and non-mandatory training.
  • Filing electronic copies of approved travel and training forms.
  • Preparing staff study agreement requests for final approval.
  • Support the L&D Coordinator where required

About you

We need someone who:

Loves being organised and enjoys working with people.

Has good knowledge of Microsoft systems and general admin tasks.

  • Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (under section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act).
  • An understanding of Aboriginal people and cultures and the ability to communicate well with community members as well as internal and external stakeholders.
  • A self-starter attitude you can work on your own but also fit in well with a team.
  • Great attention to detail and the ability to get things done on time.
  • Technology skills able and willing to use SharePoint to manage and organise logistics for staff travel and training requests.
  • Relationship building work well with managers staff and external providers.
  • Teamwork able to work well within a small team and support the L&D Team

Essential Criteria

Proof of Aboriginality will be required before interviews will be booked or conducted. Below is a list of what is accepted as Proof of Aboriginality at SWAMS.

  • Confirmation of Aboriginality from another Aboriginal owned Organisation that includes the Common Seal
