The Team:
Within theEMEA Legal Department our mission is to ensure the company operates within the law while enabling strategic growth and operational excellence across the EMEA region. We provide proactive solution-oriented legal support that aligns with the companys overarching goals and the PVH plan. This positions team serves as the backbone of our legal operations in Region West collaborating closely withlocal and regional stakeholders including business units compliance HR finance and external counsel to drive key initiatives forward. With an integral position in the team the role contributes significantly to the departments operational efficiency strategic growth and overall success.
The Position:
We are looking for a Senior Legal Manager (m/f/x) for our regional office in Dsseldorf coordinating and ensuring effective legal support to the Region West (currently integrating the DACH countries plus central and Eastern Europe) region managing the local legal team and collaborating closely with our office in Amsterdam and other EMEA Regions.
The role will report into the Senior Legal Director Markets & Commercial in Amsterdam and (matrix) dotted line to the Vice President of Finance. The key local stakeholders will be VP Finance Managing Director and relevant senior leaders in Retail Marketing Sales financial controllers etc. and key stakeholders from PVH Europe HQ including VP Head Counsel PVH Europe and regional and local peers in the other Regions.
As aSenior Legal Manager (m/f/x) for region Europe West you will be crucial to the EMEA Legal Departments strategic and operational success. The position requires a seasoned dynamic and collaborative generalist who combines legal expertise with a particular focus on commercial contracting business development marketing and retail activities in the fashion sector with strong interpersonal and team development skills. You will provide excellent legal support on a variety of topics be part of and inspire a high-performing team and act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership in Region West. Your work will be key to protecting the companys legal interests enabling business growth and supporting cross-functional initiatives with sound business-oriented legal guidance. The ideal candidate is ateam playerthat takes ownership with business acumen excellentcommunication and listening skills who canindependently lead make sound decisions anddevelop and empowerlocal team members to grow and thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Legal Advisory:Provide strategic business-oriented legal advice to senior management and business units on a wide range of legal issues with a particular focus on commercial contracts and disputes (including litigation and arbitration); distribution models such as franchise agency selective distribution and concessions and shop-in-shops; marketing consumer-facing activities and consumer engagement programs such as loyalty programs and advertising and promotion campaigns; retail activities and distribution challenges; competition and anti-trust issues.
Collaboration: Under the leadership of the Senior Legal Director Markets & Commercial in Amsterdam collaborate and align with peers and colleagues in the other Regions and with relevant business units in EMEA headquarters in Amsterdam.
Contract Management:Draft review and negotiate commercial contracts including service customer and partnership agreements (franchise distribution consignment concession agreements).
Regulatory Compliance:Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable laws regulations and internal policies especially in the area of consumer law and consumer marketing.
Corporate Governance:in collaboration with the relevant EMEA corporate governance legal team member support board and committee governance including preparation of resolutions minutes and corporate filings.
Risk Management:Identify legal risks and develop mitigation strategies to protect the companys interests.
Litigation Management:Oversee and coordinate with external counsel on litigation disputes and regulatory investigations.
Policy Development:Together with the team develop and implement legal policies procedures and training programs across the organization.
Stakeholder Collaboration:Work closely with internal stakeholders to align legal strategies with business objectives and foster cross-functional collaboration.
Team Leadership:Mentor and manage junior legal staff fostering a culture of trust accountability and continuous development to build a high-performing empowered team
Note: Responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed above. The role may require additional tasks and duties as assigned to meet the needs of the department and organization.
Measures of Success:
Legal expertise. Target: timely ad-hoc and actionable advise in the areas of responsibility.
Leadership and team building. Target: engagement with different stakeholders across regions functions units and brands.
Management. Target: manage the regional legal members under its responsibility and coordinate and facilitate legal efficiencies across the region and local markets
Requirements:
Law degree (LLM or equivalent)
Legal Expertise: Advanced knowledge of corporate commercial and regulatory law.
Experience: Minimum 810 years post-qualification experience preferably in both law firm and in house roles (in the fashion industry is a plus).
Commercial Contract Negotiation: Proficient in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
Experience: Demonstrated success in managing and negotiating commercial contracts with key customers B2B.
Strategic Thinking: Ability to align legal strategies with business goals and anticipate legal risks.
Leadership & Communication: Strong interpersonal listening and team leadership skills. Proven ability to inspire develop and lead diverse teams.
Collaboration: A natural collaborator who thrives in cross-functional environments and builds strong relationships across all levels.
