Straz Center for the Performing Arts is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Finance team. This position is responsible for managing the financial and administrative functions and overseeing the daily accounting functions including accounts payable accounts receivable and general ledger entries. The Accounting Manager reports to the Controller and provides operational and financial support to the Finance and other Department Teams.

Essential Functions:
Fiscal Management:
- Prepare audit record and reconcile show settlements for all event types including related journal entries intercompany charges special events in-kind activity and inventories.
- Manage month-end close activities including accruals account reconciliations deferred revenue schedules budget variance analysis and preparation of financial and audit reports.
- Collaborate with department leaders to develop and monitor budgets track income and expenses and coordinate forecasting processes.
- Oversee cash control procedures including bank reconciliations safe counts cash orders armored car services and reconciliation of volunteer and retail accounts.
- Maintain and update accounting policies procedures and internal controls; oversee corporate card PCard and Amazon Business account administration.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present financial reports analyses and budget variance reviews for Education and Community Engagement ensuring accuracy for monthly quarterly and annual reporting as well as supporting accreditation compliance and evidence gathering.
- Monitor reconcile and correct payroll transactions; lead month-end financial reviews with department management and participate in management meetings as needed.
Management & Administration:
- Oversee and enforce Admissions financial policies cash management controls and risk management measures including daily sales deposits scholarship and financial assistance processes and student payment protocol reconciliation.
- Collaborate with the Admissions Manager to support and maintain the ASAP database ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge Skills and Abilities):
- Ability to organize and prioritize in a fast-paced continually changing environment.
- Ability to manage own priorities and resolve conflicting priorities within the department in a timely manner.
- Ability to exhibit flexibility on workload and priorities as needed.
- Strong attention to detail.
- General mathematical skills with the ability to choose the appropriate mathematical methods or formulas to solve problems.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse population.
- Excellent written verbal and organizational skills.
- Proactive individual proficient with working independently and on teams to achieve organizational goals.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple deadline-driven projects in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- Creative and analytical thinker with financial modeling experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications to include Outlook Word and Excel.
- Experience with using financial and customer relationship management database software required.
- Experience with Financial Systems such as Blackbaud Tessitura and/or ASAP preferred.
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelors degree in finance or accounting required.
- At least three to five years professional experience in related function.
