RPO Recruitments client a reputable construction company in South Africa is currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Estimator with proven experience in renewable energy projects to join their dynamic team.
The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the preconstruction phase preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for solar and wind installations across commercial industrial and utility-scale markets.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for renewable energy projects including solar PV wind farms battery storage and EV charging infrastructure
- Analyse drawings specifications proposals and other documentation to prepare time cost and labour estimates
- Collaborate with project managers engineers procurement and subcontractors to develop complete and competitive bids
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and evaluate project risks
- Solicit and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Maintain a database of unit costs and historical pricing for future project use
- Assist in bid reviews proposal development and value engineering exercises
- Monitor industry trends construction costs and renewable energy technology developments
Requirements:
- BTech/BSc degree in Quantity Surveying/Construction Management or similar
- Minimum 10 years experience in construction estimating work with at least 5 years proven experience in the renewable energy sector
- Strong understanding of renewable energy systems and components (e.g. PV modules inverters racking systems wind turbines battery storage)
- Proficiency in relevant software packages including CCS Bluebeam and MS Office
- Excellent analytical organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates under tight deadlines
