Description
An established manufacturing company is seeking an experienced and hands-on SMT Supervisor to manage its Surface Mount Technology (SMT) department situated in Pinetown KZN. This is a key role in a fast-paced electronics production environment where quality precision and leadership are essential.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily SMT operations and meet production schedules
- Assign tasks to operators inspectors and material handlers
- Approve first-off builds and conduct quality checks in line with IPC standards
- Ensure compliance with internal SOPs industry regulations and customer specifications
- Manage SMT machine setup programming and preventive maintenance
- Lead daily production meetings and track performance against OTIF goals
- Supervise and develop a team of SMT Operators Technicians and Inspectors
- Collaborate with engineering to drive process and equipment improvements
- Ensure safety standards housekeeping and audit readiness are maintained
Requirements:
- Diploma or degree in Electronics Manufacturing or related field (preferred)
- 35 years of supervisory experience in SMT or electronics manufacturing
- Strong technical knowledge of SMT equipment reflow soldering AOI and programming
- Familiarity with IPC standards and quality control systems
- Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and production planning
- Excellent leadership communication and problem-solving skills
- Flexible to work overtime as needed
