Job Description

Our client in the service sector is seeking an experienced and dedicated Class One Chef to join their team.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Negotiable.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook high-quality meals in accordance with established recipes portion sizes and presentation standards.
  • Assist in planning daily menus and specials ensuring variety and alignment with guest or client expectations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in all food preparation and service areas adhering to food safety standards.
  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and kitchen supplies and report shortages or replenishment needs.
  • Ensure all food items are stored properly and used within their shelf life to minimize waste.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service during peak periods.
  • Inspect and maintain kitchen equipment reporting any faults or maintenance needs.
  • Support junior kitchen staff through guidance supervision and on-the-job training.
  • Adhere to all company and regulatory health and safety requirements in food handling and kitchen operations.
  • Participate in kitchen cleaning schedules and ensure compliance with sanitization procedures.

  • Strong culinary skills with expertise in preparing a wide variety of dishes.
  • Thorough understanding of food safety hygiene and kitchen best practices.
  • Good time management and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Attention to detail in food preparation cooking and presentation.
  • Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to different kitchen environments and service styles.
  • Ability to follow recipes while also showing creativity when required.
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control and kitchen cost awareness.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Class One Cook/Chef qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 3 5 years of experience working in a professional kitchen.
  • Food Safety and Hygiene Certification (required).
  • Experience in a hotel lodge restaurant or catering environment is preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.
