Our client is seeking a dynamic and street-smart Marketing Manager with a deep understanding of informal markets to drive brand visibility product penetration and customer loyalty at the grassroots level. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with tuck shops street vendors wholesalers and township retailers and knows how to build brands in the informal space.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and execute marketing strategies tailored for informal and township markets

Build relationships with informal retailers vendors and community influencers

Lead promotions activations and sampling campaigns in high-traffic informal areas

Coordinate with sales and distribution teams to ensure marketing aligns with field execution

Generate market insights through regular visits field reports and community engagement

Manage marketing materials and ensure they are adapted for the informal market

Identify and implement low-cost high-impact brand-building tactics

Measure the success of campaigns and continuously optimize for greater reach and relevance
Requirements

Proven experience in informal market engagement (e.g. FMCG sales trade marketing distribution)

Solid understanding of township dynamics informal buying behaviour and grassroots communication

Diploma or Degree in Marketing Business or relevant field preferred

Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

Fluent in English and at least one local language
